Grandmother Killed In Pro Shop Robbery |
|
| |
On March 23, 2006 cops say an unknown killer stole the life of a truly innocent victim.
Cynthia Moffett worked full-time, five days a week, in the pro shop at the Forest Oaks Golf Club in the Lucerne Lakes Community in Lake Worth, Fla.
Though cops say it was a company policy for at least two employees should be on the property at a time, so that no one was left alone, heavy rain made this particular day unusual.
The lawn maintenance employees were sent home early because of the storm, and cops say Cynthia was preparing to close the pro shop by herself.
Cynthia was alone in the store around 6 p.m., when police say someone entered the store and shot her.
Cops say the person stole rolled coins and then moved her body outside.
Around 9:30 p.m., police received a 9-1-1 call. Cops say a young man who used to work for the golf course saw Cynthia’s body on his way to the store.
She was just outside the entrance to the store, lying on her stomach.
Cynthia Moffett moved from her home in Detroit to Boca Raton, Fla. about a year before the shooting to care for her elderly mother.
Cops say her mother was very active in the community. She worked with immigrants, teaching English and was also very involved in activities at her church.
When her mother passed away, cops say Cynthia stepped right in and took over all of her mother’s volunteer activities.
Cynthia was a mother of one and grandmother of one.
