Case Story |

Garage Manager Gunned Down in Pawtucket, R.I. |
|
| |
It was close to 4:15 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2008, when Carl Seebeck left his home, headed for work. It was a short walk to the bus stop where he hopped a ride each morning to his job as the manager of the Metro-Park Garage at the Amtrak station in downtown Providence. On his way there, authorities have learned Carl made a routine stop at the Dunkin Donuts for coffee.
Pawtucket Police need the public's help to find out what happened next.
Sam Sullivan, a building superintendent at the retirement home on Broadway Ave., told police he heard a loud bang around 4:36 a.m. When he looked out the window, he saw a man running across the parking lot, wearing a hooded sweatshirt. That's when Sam says he ran outside to find a man lying down five feet from the curb, and dialed police.
The fire department was dispatched to the intersection of Broadway and Blackston Aves. When they arrived, Carl was rushed to the Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Carl died from a gunshot wound in what police believe was an attempted robbery.
Pawtucket detective Capt. John Seebeck, a 34-year veteran of the force, lost his brother that night. Since then, he's been searching, along with a team of detectives, through nearby sewers, and scouring the street for evidence.
There were few people out that time of night, but Capt. Seebeck is hopeful that someone will come forward with information.
Carl's murder has not only deeply affected the Pawtucket Police Department, but also the lives of his wife, four children, and two step-children.
You can help bring the family some closure: if you know anything about the heinous crime, call our hotline at 1-800-CRIME-TV right now.
