Traits |
|
| |
Frequently takes prescription pain pills. |
|
| |
Considering he has recently been in a horrible car wreck, authorities have reason to believe, Horton may be even more reliant on prescription medicine and must be getting it from somewhere. |
|
| |
Police believe he may have assumed an alias. |
|
| |
According to Cassandra's family, Horton is a heavy drinker. |
|
| |
Family members of Cassandra also claim that Horton avoids, at any cost, placing things under his name: cars, utilities, cell phones, etc.. |
|
| |
The victim's family claim Horton rarely worked; however, when he did, he often looked for work within the boiler industry, considering he is a boiler maker. |

Catastrophic Accident Claims Two Lives |
|
| |
Benny Dwayne Horton, according to Texas law enforcement, is responsible for two counts of vehicular manslaughter -- and is still at large.
On August 26, 2005, after having several drinks at a local marina, cops say Horton, accompanied by Cassandra Killion Wright -- his girlfriend at the time -- departed for home.
Around 8:30 p.m., they say Horton ran a stop sign at the intersection of SH-30 and FM 1791 and suffered a catastrophic head-on collision. Horton’s 1990 GMC Suburban sent Ella Lisa Mill’s 2002 Chrysler Sebring flying across the intersection into a ditch. Horton’s Suburban was flung in the opposite direction. Both vehicles suffered major impact damage.
Approximately six minutes after the accident, a police officer from the Texas Department of Public Safety arrived at the scene. Both Horton and Cassandra appeared to have been thrown from the front seat into the back seats, making it impossible to determine who the driver of the SUV was.
After the accident, Ella was pronounced dead on the scene. Everyone else involved in the accident was shipped to Memorial Herman Hospital-Houston, where Cassandra was pronounced dead five hours later. |

Police: After Lying To Cops, Horton Released From Hospital |
|
| |
When questioned about the accident, Horton told the cops he had been drinking and was unable to recall who was driving. He also mentioned that he had been taking prescription pain pills before, according to police.
At that time, evidence was inconclusive, and Horton was released from the hospital. |

Evidence Points Towards Horton |
|
| |
Later, when inspecting Horton’s GMC Suburban, police found two interesting pieces of evidence: a tooth in the driver’s side passenger seat and a blood stain on the driver’s side seatbelt.
Upon further analysis, forensics reported that not only the tooth, but also the blood stains, were a positive match to Horton. At that time, Horton had already been released, and his whereabouts are now unknown.
According to police, Horton was, without a doubt, driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. He has been charged with two counts of Intoxicated Manslaughter with a Vehicle and one count of Intoxicated Assault with a Vehicle. |
