Penn. Man Escapes Halfway House, Commits Murder |

Law enforcement officials in Pittsburgh are continuing their search for a halfway house escapee, wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 29-year-old West Mifflin, Penn. man.
Cops say Andre Berry fled a Pittsburgh halfway house on Oct. 16, 2007, only to commit a murder roughly three months later.
According to police, on Jan. 17, 2008, Berry shot Robert Kennedy in the head in an apartment complex parking lot in what cops say was a drug deal gone wrong.
Police tell AMW this isn't the first time Berry has been in serious trouble with the law: in 1994, Berry was charged with involuntary manslaughter and sent to prison for his involvement in the murder of a 21-year-old man. |

Cops Seek Escapee, Accused Murderer |

According to police records, Berry has spent the past two decades in and out of jail on various drug and weapons charges.
Cops say he was serving out the remainder of his sentence on a drug rap when he went on the run. Berry hasn't been seen since.
Police continue to work solid leads in Berry's case, and are confident Berry has not left the area.
Cops say he is known to frequent the Mon Valley areas of Allegheny County, specifically West Mifflin and Clairton. Cops say Berry also has ties to the Shadeland area of the City of Pittsburgh.
Police describe Berry as a black male, 5'10" tall and weighing about 175 lbs. He has tattoos on both arms and on his neck.
Cops say Berry was in an accident which left him with prosthetic feet. Today, he walks with a limp. Berry also has a slight stutter that is not always apparent.
Berry is wanted on felony escape charges for fleeing the halfway house, and is also being sought on criminal homicide, robbery, firearms violations, as well as charges of intimidating witnesses.
Authorities consider him armed and dangerous. |
