  Case Story
N.Y.C. Corrections Officer Killed In Botched Robbery
Law enforcement personnel in New York City are in mourning after one of their own was murdered in his Flatbush, Brooklyn home. In the early morning hours of April 22, 2008, cops tell AMW that Kenny Duncan -- a 17-year veteran corrections officer from the Lower Manhattan central booking facility -- was working on his motorcycle when two thugs approached the officer. Witnesses say the two men were there to steal his beloved Kawasaki; Kenny told the suspects he was a corrections officer, and asked them to leave. Cops say one of the men pulled out a gun, so Kenny Duncan drew his 9mm and fired two shots, missing the men. One suspect fired back, the round tearing into Kenny's face. The suspects ran from the scene, while witnesses called police. Kenny's sister, who heard the shots, ran out to hold her brother in his final moments. Officer Duncan was then rushed to the hospital, and was pronounced dead on arrival. He leaves behind an 18-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son. The shooter is described as a black male, 5'10" tall, weighing approximately 155 lbs.   By Shelaney Campbell, AMW Staff
