Cops: Escapees Scale Prison Fence |
|
| |
The escape of two state prisoners has the Indiana State Police and the United States Marshals Service conducting a full-on manhunt for the pair.
They say that 20-year-old Conan Helsley, along with convicted killer 45-year-old Kent Day, scaled a fence that encircled the Branchville Correctional Facility in Indiana.
The pair fled on foot, but cops say not for long. Soon after the escape, detectives recovered a truck stolen from a nearby construction site. Investigators believe Helsley and Day snagged it from the quiet site and drove to southern Kentucky.
Cops think the duo are still on the run together. |

Though just 20 years old, Indiana State troopers say Helsley is a hardened criminal.
Helsley was in the midst of serving an eight-year sentence for a disturbing armed robbery; he was convicted of using a sawed-off shotgun to hold up a Boonville, Ind. pawn shop.
Helsley originally hails from Pike County, and cops say he was last seen in his khaki-colored prison uniform.
Day, a convicted killer, has been serving his 60-year sentence since 1982. Police say that he is originally from Madisonville, Ky., which fits the direction investigators believe the duo headed in with the stolen truck. |

Helsley And Day Could Be On The Run Together |

Investigators warn that both men should be considered armed and dangerous. They think the pair are still traveling together and they warn that Helsley and Day could be desparate and therefor even more dangerous.
Police are hoping AMW viewers will pinpoint their location for authorities so that Helsley and Day will return to where they belong... behind bars. |
