Mother Discovers Young Child's Rape |

Police tell AMW that a mother in suburban Ottawa, Ill. made a disturbing discovery: her daughter, just 12 years old, had been raped.
The mother told cops that the man who did it was Justin Ray Sparlin.
Ottawa police began investigating the allegations immediately, but they say that before they could even respond to the crime scene, Sparlin took off with his belongings.
Once cops confirmed the little girl's rape, they wasted no time kicking off the manhunt for Sparlin. After Sparlin called a detective on the case, they traced his location to the Congress Hotel in downtown Chicago. |

SWAT Swarms Hotel; Fugitive Slips Away |

Emergency response teams from the Chicago Police Department, the United States Secret Service and the FBI all surrounded the Congress Hotel as soon as the call was traced.
Several SWAT teams secured the premises, but by the time officers moved in, Sparlin had already slipped through the cracks.
Detectives say that Sparlin left the hotel shortly after the phone call. They say he was a registered guest at the hotel, but gone by the time the first teams of law enforcement arrived.
Investigators were able to track some of Sparlin's movements in the Windy City. Cops say he was caught on surveillance at a Chicago bank.
Later, detectives tracked down Sparlin's vehicle at a local Greyhound station. They say that Sparlin took a bus to O'Hare, where he boarded a flight to Europe.
According to cops, Sparlin went to Rome, Italy, by way of Frankfurt, Germany. That's where the trail goes cold. |

AWOL, And On The Run |

Sparlin was on active duty in the military. He is a Specialist with the United States Army in an infantry division. Justin Sparlin is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and has served two tours of duty in Iraq. Cops say Sparlin is currently AWOL from the Army.
In fact, cops say he had just come back from Iraq when the alleged rape occurred.
Sparlin is a very heavy computer user. He uses the internet for shopping, banking and bill paying. Also, cops say he likes to instant message.
Police believe that Sparlin may be telling people that he is a day trader of securities, but cops say he is merely a rapist on the run. They're hoping that someone recognizes him, and no matter where in the world he flees, they can track him down with the help of AMW tipsters. |
