Case Story |

Prison Break |
|
| |
At least eight agencies in Virginia have joined forces in their hunt for one very dangerous man -- 42-year-old Alonzo Erwin Logan. Cops say Logan escaped from the Dillwyn Correctional Center in Buckingham County, Virginia on Nov. 16, 2007 and has made it crystal clear that he will not go back to prison willingly.
According to police, Logan, who was serving 44 years for armed robbery, kidnapping and abduction, carjacking, and drug and weapons charges, left a suicidal note in a Bible he kept in his cell. Cops say the note indicates he's prepared to die and will take anyone else down with him who tries to put him back in the facility.
Cops say Logan escaped from the prison sometime between 8:30 p.m. and midnight on the 16th. According to cops, Logan scaled two razor-lined fences to his freedom, leaving a trail of blood at the scene.
Around 2:00 a.m., cops say Logan approached the driver of a delivery van at a nursing home about two miles away from the prison. When his call wouldn't go through, cops say Logan beat the delivery driver, then stole his van and took off. The following day, police recovered the abandoned van in Henrico County, Va., near Richmond. |

Logan's Run |

One Henrico County, Va. citizen reported that Logan showed up at their house, asking to use the telephone. Cops say the citizen noted Logan had a shotgun with him, but was reportedly able to get the shotgun away from him before Logan took off toward a wooded area nearby.
Cops say they've also had numerous sightings of Logan in the Richmond area recently.
According to police, Logan is extremely familiar with the woods in the area and knows how to live the fugitive lifestyle. |

Flight Experience |
|

Cops say Logan has previous experience has a fugitive.
In 2001, cops say Logan escaped from custody as he was transported by a deputy to court in a vehicle. According to police, Logan grabbed the steering wheel, wrecked the car, then grabbed the deputy's gun and fled on foot. Cops say that stint on the run ended after a 10-hour stand-off with police in which he barricaded himself in his fiancee's attic. |
