  Case Story
Ex-Con On The Run For Murder
Police say they are familiar with Billy Haynes.  He has been in and out of the Kentucky prison system for more than 40 years for charges ranging from narcotics to attempted murder.  He happened to be out in mid-October 2007 and cops say he struck again.  This time, they say, 45-year-old Luis Rodriguez paid the ultimate price. Haynes was visiting with friends on Thursday, October 18th in Glasgow, Ky. when an argument broke out.  Kentucky State Police say that Haynes called his friend later in the day and said, "I need you to come out here. They came back. I shot one of them."  The homeowner came home and claims that he saw Luis Rodriguez lying in the backyard. KSP detectives say that Haynes moved the body sometime that night or in the early morning hours on Friday to the Brown's Ford boat ramp in Scottsville, Kentucky.  At around 7:15 on Friday morning, Luis's body was found.  Cops quickly honed in on Haynes, but they say he had already fled.

  Marshals: Longtime Jailbird Loves Louisville
The United States Marshals joined the Kentucky State Police on the hunt for Haynes.  They say he loves the Louisville area -- including nearby southern Indiana -- and has even been spotted at a couple of area restaurants since booking it after Luis' murder. Marshals say that Haynes is on the run in his 2006 red Ford pick-up truck.  He may be trying to sell the truck for cash.  Also, he likes to stay at Best Western and Marriott chain hotels. For the past 40 years, Haynes has been convicted on a myriad of charges including attempted murder, safe-cracking, burglary and various assaults.
