  Case Story
Would A Few Minutes Have Made A Difference?
Marvelin "Isaac" Bass III led a simple life.  He enjoyed his job at the Wendy's on N. Pleasantburg in Greenville, S.C., then going home to the apartment he shared with his aunt.  If the restaurant needed Isaac to work extra hours or an extra day, he was always willing to help out.  So when he finished his work and asked to leave a little early Saturday, January 27 around 1:30 in the morning, his manager agreed. Shortly after Isaac walked out, his manager and another co-worker heard a scream, then a few seconds later, gunshots.  They called 9-1-1.

  Desperate For Help
Police say someone shot Isaac, then fled.  Isaac ran away from the Wendy's and crossed the six busy lanes of N. Pleasantburg Drive, trying to flag down the cars flying by.  He collapsed on the sidewalk not far down the road.  Finally a witness pulled over, but police were already on the way.  By the time cops got there, Isaac was dead. Police say they have so few clues to go on.  Witnesses saw two young black men -- possibly in their late teens to early 20's -- running from Wendy's that night, heading toward an apartment building on Villa Road.  The witnesses say the men were wearing baggy jeans and heavy winter jackets, one yellow and one red, but that's all they could see.  There were no surveillance cameras in the area.

  Wendy's Steps Up To Help
With the lack of leads, Wendy's managers have put up a $5,000 reward, hoping someone who knows something will come forward. Police say there has never been anything like this at the restaurant before, though there have been robberies along the same road.
