On Wednesday, October 24, 2007, Nelson Diaz went to the home of one of his friends. The only person at home was his friend's 14-year-old daughter. Since the young girl recognized Diaz as a family friend, she let him into the house.
According to police, once Diaz was inside the house, he told the 14-year-old girl to take off her clothes. He then allegedly proceeded to sexually assault the girl, and told her not to tell anyone what had happened.
The little girl didn't tell anyone in her family, but police say she told one of her teachers at school the next day, and the teacher immediately contacted the police. Unfortunately, by the time law enforcement arrived at Diaz's house in Garfield, N.J., he had disappeared, and police haven't been able to track him down since.
Police say that Diaz is a native of Ecuador, and they believe that he is in the United States illegally. Diaz could be driving a blue 1995 Mazda Protege with North Carolina plates reading 'VRL 4963.' |
