  Case Story
My Story -- by J.D.'s Family and Friends
Mary and Gary Richards could not have been more proud of their son. J.D. was a leader with many friends, and was active in his community. He loved to play baseball, was the captain of his high school team, and coached the children in his neighborhood. J.D joined the Marines in February 2006, graduated with honors in May, and was quickly moving up the ranks. In September 2006 J.D. moved to Virginia and was stationed in Norfolk. He was proud to be a Marine and was committed to serving his country. J.D. was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Norfolk on December 16, 2006. Virginia State Police say that 20-year-old J.D. was riding his 2004 Suzuki motorcyle westbound on Interstate 64 around 9:40 p.m. when he fell off the bike and was struck by an SUV. J.D. was dragged for over 100 yards. The SUV never stopped or even slowed down, but continued traveling and exited the Interstate onto southbound Tidewater Drive.

Police Need Someone To Come Forward
The driver of the SUV dragged his body for more than 100 yards then drove off. The driver still has not been caught. We want justice for J.D. and we want the person who took the life of this exceptional young man to take responsibility for his horrific crime. Witnesses told police the vehicle appeared to be a silver GMC sport utility vehicle. Since the day of the accident, one person has come forward to police, fearing that she could have been the one to hit J.D. She drove an SUV and took the Tidewater Drive exit at about the time J.D. was killed. However, police were able to rule her out as a suspect because there was no damage to her vehicle and no evidence linking her to the crime. The night of December 16, 2006 is a tragic date. J.D. is deeply missed and we want justice for him, his family, and his friends. The Virginia police and J.D.'s family need your help to catch this person who values the lives of others so little. Please help us catch the dirtbag who took the life of such a wonderful young man.
