Case Story |

| |
Betrayed By His Breath |
|
| |
Tuen "Dickie" Lee, a 38-year-old sushi restaurant manager in Quincy, Mass., about nine miles south of Boston, was charged with raping a co-worker at knifepoint.
The rape victim, who is in her early 20s, was at home in February 2005 when she was grabbed by a masked man, gagged with duct tape, bound and then raped.
The victim immediately told cops that she recognized the attacker as her boss because of his bad breath. Lee was arrested eight days later, after DNA evidence was found at the scene. |

Failed To Show Up In Court |
|
| |
Police say Lee failed to show up for closing arguments of his nine-day trial.
The next day, he was convicted in absentia of four counts of aggravated rape, one count of kidnapping, one count of assault with intent to rape, one count of indecent assault and battery and one count of assault and battery.
He's now facing life in prison. First, though, he has to be apprehended. |

The Manhunt Begins |
|
| |
Although Lee has ties to China, his passport is in the custody of the Quincy District Court.
Authorities believe that he's probably still in Massachusetts, or perhaps somewhere else in New England. As a precaution, however, police launched a major manhunt at airports throughout New England.
Lee was last seen in downtown Quincy by another co-worker. He had been free on bail since the start of the trial.
Prosecutors had asked the judge to set bail at $1 million because of fears that Lee was a flight risk, but, after hearing arguments from Lee's lawyer, the judge set bail at $100,000. |
