Diary Describes Dissatisfaction And Death |

Cops in Kalispell, Mont. need AMW's viewers' help to find fugitive mother Valerie Dunkle fast. On March 26, 2007, Valerie kidnapped her two children, eleven-year-old Indigo Revander and five-year old Donovan Revander. During their investigation, police discovered her diary and became alarmed. Valerie wrote about killing herself. Now, police are also concerned about the safety and welfare of the children she abducted.
"Maybe I'll try again, or not... [It's] simpler to just eat a bullet," Valerie wrote in her diary, talking about trying to kill herself. Time and time again, the diary references Valerie's lackluster life in rural Montana and seemingly hopeless quest to find love that drove her to the edge. Valerie tried to kill herself before, describing in precise detail what she observed when she slit her wrist. She then wrote, "When I cut my wrist, I wasn't thinking about 'why' or repercussions, friends, family, even the mess it would make on the floor and how the cut would come and make little red tracks [of blood] all over the floor or anything..."
Also in her diary, Valerie confessed that she was dissatisfied with her marriage and was having an internet affair with a Canadian man - someone she hoped to meet one day. Of the Internet affair, Valerie wrote, "I'd like to go and have a complete affair and really good time." |

Using An Alias In Arkansas |

Valerie's estranged husband, Shawn Hargrove, didn't know that March 26, 2007 would be the last day he saw his biological children. When Shawn left Indigo and Donovan with their mother on this day, he had no indication that Valerie would sneak the kids out of Montana.
Valerie had a nearly two week head start on police. On April 7, Shawn, who had legal custody of the children, was eagerly awaiting their return. Yet, Valerie failed to show up at the pre-arranged location and time when Shawn was to be reunited with his kids. Shawn immediately called police.
Cops entered Valerie's, Indigo's and Donovan's names into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system, the FBI's nationwide criminal database. Another two weeks passed and cops finally got their first promising lead - a tip from more than 1700 miles away.
Arkansas State Police were alerted when a woman attempted to obtain a replacement for a lost vehicle title. When police ran the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) through the NCIC database, they discovered that the car's registered owner was fugitive mother Valerie Dunkle. Cops in Arkansas immediately jumped into action.
Arkansas police were hot on Dunkle's trail. They tracked her down and discovered that she was renting an apartment in Diamond City under an alias name of Lina Johnson. When cops arrived at the apartment, they found a note taped to the front door. The note Valerie deliberately left said that she was out of town and would return on May 5, 2007. Cops investigated further and found that Valerie had already moved out of the apartment. Valerie knew cops were looking for her and police suspect she left the note as a diversion. Most alarming, there was no sign of the kids.
Police need your help in finding Valerie and her children Indigo Revander and Donovan Revander. Indigo is a female Caucasian, 4'4", approx. 100 lbs., and has brown hair and brown eyes. When Indigo was last seen, her hair was dyed auburn. Indigo just had her 11th birthday. Donovan is a male Caucasian, 3'10", 56 lbs. and has brown hair and brown eyes. |
