Case Story |

Carjacking Leads To Bizarre Bank Heist |
|
| |
It started around 9:35 p.m. on Thursday August 9, 2007. Tim Winn, a former college basketball star in upstate New York, and a group of friends were leaving a basketball game on Buffalo's East Side, and as Winn opened the door to his black 2006 Chrysler 300M, a young man who had been hiding on the other side of the vehicle stood up and pointed a gun at him. Winn gave up his vehicle, and the carjacker went on his way.
The same car turned up the next morning when it was was used as the getaway vehicle in a bizarre bank heist. Cops say around 11:15 that morning, they received a 9-1-1 call from someone on the second floor of the Citizen's bank in Amherst, N.Y. She told them the bank had just been robbed by a group of men dressed as women. |

Are These Brazen Bandits Men? Or Women? |
|
| |
Sure enough, when police arrived they found that three men, wearing women's wigs and sunglasses, came into the bank brandishing guns. One of the guns was a dark, long-barreled revolver. The other, a semi-automatic pistol. One of the suspects jumped the counter and ordered cash from the teller while a second suspect was let into the teller area through a door. Cops believe a third suspect stood watch, and a fourth drove the getaway car. The thugs got out of the bank and went on their way.
While the cross dressing bandits may have gotten some loot they didn't get to spend it. They had to dump it not far from the bank after dye packs planted with the money exploded. Police soon found the getaway vehicle as well and linked it to Mr. Winn.
Police now need the public's help to track down these three man - posing as women. |
