Endangered Teen Runs Away With MySpace Friend |

Like many teen girls these days, Lauren Krea Dean has a MySpace account. While most of these teenagers stick to talking with their friends, too many of them become emotionally involved with strangers they meet through the social networking site. Unfortunately, Lauren became one of these girls.
Police say the man Lauren fell for is Daniel Knopp, a 20-year-old from Troy, Missouri. Knopp got on an Amtrak train to visit Lauren, and Lauren went to pick him up from the station. This was the first time the two met in person, and police say she promptly ran away with him.
That same night Lauren called one of her friends. She also got in touch with her friend's sister, and stayed with her that night. Daniel even payed the girl $50 for the hospitality. After that, police say Lauren Dean and Daniel Knopp bought a pair of bus tickets to Iowa, with Lauren using his last name. But the couple never went. |

Police have gotten multiple tips from people who say they've seen Lauren and Daniel. They say that it doesn't appear as if Lauren is being held against her will. Actually, tipsters say that Lauren appears to be making her own decisions, and even speaking on behalf of the couple much of the time.
But this doesn't stop cops and Lauren's loved ones from fearing for her safety. Lauren is only 16 years old, and has never lived out of her home. Right now, Lauren is living on the street. And police say that Lauren may be hitch-hiking to get around, a mode of transportation that is dangerous for anyone, and especially for a young girl. And police fear that Lauren doesn't know enough about the world to get by safely, that she may be too trusting of others. |

Police say Lauren and Daniel have been traveling in Southern Michigan. They traced the pair from Albion to Kalamazoo. They've also been seen recently in Battle Creek and Paw Paw. But the pair keeps coming back to Kalamazoo, a college town, where police believe Lauren and Daniel might have made friends.
Strangely, Lauren is not keeping in touch with any of her friends. This is something that family, friends, and detectives find very unusual. Typically in runaway cases like this, runaways will call friends to let them know that they're all right. |
