Missing For Over Twenty Years |

Annabelle Marie Rankin-Ludwig-Smith was a mother of four, who had been living a somewhat mysterious life. Cops say that while Annabelle was living with her ex-husband, she was also seeing another man, whom she planned to go to Florida with. But that time came and went, and she never left.
Suddenly she began talking again with the man in Florida. And soon after that, in June 1982, Annabelle simply disappeared. Her family wasn't too worried at first. They thought she'd come back. After all, Annabelle had done this many times before. Annabelle would take off for days, even weeks, at a time. But she would always come home. And she always returned to her normal life. But this time she wouldn't come home. And since then, nobody has been able to reach her, and cops say she didn't even contact anyone when her parents died. |

A Troubled Life |

Annabelle was last seen at her house that she shared with Robert Ludwig ... her ex husband ... and three of their children. Annabelle married Robert in 1960, but cops say their marriage was turbulent. They divorced 17 years later, and Annabelle re-married and divorced again, became involved with another man, and then returned to Robert in 1978. Years later, cops say she talked of going to Florida with a man she was seeing in Ohio. But the time came, and the man left, but Annabelle didn't. Later, she reconsidered, and told people once again she was going to Florida. Then she left, and never returned.
Just because Annabelle had always returned to her normal life before didn't mean that her family didn't worry about her. Cops say her family thought she may have been a drug addict. And one family member thinks she was bipolar. |
