Cops Seek Answers In Decade-Old Murder |
|
| |
On May 4, 2007, the Solano County Sheriff's Office brought some closure to an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a Fairfield, Calif. woman, Danna Lori Dever.
On August 5, 1996, Dever was reported missing by her live-in boyfriend, Lonnie James Kerley. For years, Danna's whereabouts were unknown and records showed that she hadn't used her credit cards or Social Security number. That all changed when the case was re-examined.
When Fairfield cops took another look at Dever's 1996 missing person's report along with other unsolved homicide cases, new facts and evidence came to light. Detectives found that a fingerprint from Dever's DMV files matched that of a decomposed body that was found in rural Solano County by two farmers in July of 1996.
Dever's remains were found in overgrown weeds near a local highway and clothed in an article of clothing, detectives say. At the time, the Solano County coroner found that she had likely been beaten to death and that she had been dead for anywhere from six months to a year. That information led authorities to believe that their Jane Doe was not Danna Dever but now, thanks to the new fingerprint evidence, police have positively identified the remains.
While Danna Dever's missing persons case has been closed, detectives in Solano County are still looking into her murder. They are asking the public for any new clues or information about Danna Dever in hopes that her killer will soon be brought to justice. |
