Triple Murder In A Suburban Neighborhood |
|
| |
Life will never again be the same for 20-year-old Maggie Haines -- a Lancaster County, Pa. woman who survived a scene like something out of a horror movie.
Police say Maggie is the lone survivor of a violent attack on her family in which her parents, Thomas Haines, 50, and Lisa Haines, 47, and her brother, 16-year-old Kevin, were stabbed to death in their home on Saturday, May 12, 2007.
According to police, Maggie woke up when she heard a struggle in her brother's room around 2:20 a.m. Cops say Maggie left her bedroom to check it out, but her mother, sitting on the edge of her bed in another bedroom told her to stop and "go get help." According to police, Maggie remembers seeing her father laying on the bed next to her mother -- but police do not know if he was dead at that time.
Cops say Maggie ran across the street to a neighbor's house, where she called 9-1-1 around 2:24 a.m. Police say investigators arrived just minutes later -- and found a horrifying crime scene.
Thomas and Lisa were found stabbed to death in their bedroom, and Kevin was found on a hallway floor upstairs. Cops say the back door was open when they arrived -- there were no signs of forced entry into the home. Police say nothing appeared to have been taken from the house. |

Investigators say they have not developed a motive for the slayings, but they are digging deep into the histories of the murdered family members, and looking for anyone they can develop as a person of interest.
Police are warning the community to lock their doors and be on the lookout for anything suspicious. The FBI is now involved in the case, and authorities say they're confident they will find the person or people responsible for the disgusting murders.
