FBI: Burglary Scheme Born Behind Bars |

The FBI says that career criminal Ralph Skundrich was already behind bars when he started planning his next move: a string of burglaries. He brought several fellow inmates into the scheme, as well as a prison guard, according to agents.
Agents say that when he was released, he began to gather the tools he would need to put his plan into motion.
According to the FBI, Skundrich targeted a house in Indiana County, Pa. that he believed had a safe full of money, guns, and valuables inside. Agents said Skundrich thought it would be a big score. But what he didn't know was that the FBI had intercepted word of his scheme.
On March 16, 2004, cops began surveillance on Skundrich. That day, cops say Skundrich and one of his fellow schemers met at a hotel in Allegheny County, Pa. to prepare for the robbery. On March 17, agents say they watched as the men rented a box truck and a dolly, and as Skundrich drove the box truck around Indiana County, Pa. Agents say the men intended to remove the safe from the house using the dolly.
Later that day, Skundrich and one of his accomplices went back to the hotel -- and to their surprise, agents were there. Agents arrested the men, and searched the hotel room. There, they say they found numerous controlled substances, syringes, a spoon, a butane lighter, four handguns, gloves, masks, binoculars, and two-way radios. |

House Arrest Leads To Homegrown Escape |

After the aborted break-in, Skundrich was charged and put on house arrest. But agents say he didn't plan on staying cooped up for long.
On January 29, 2005, Skundrich cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet and took off. Agents say he may be on the run with his 46-year-old girlfriend, Gina Farren-Brown, who left her family to join Skundrich on the lam. Farren-Brown is 5'2" tall, 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The FBI reports that she has not been charged with any crime. |
