  Case Story
After More Than Ten Years Investigators Are Still Searching For Scott
On May 5, 1991 the decomposed body of 36-year-old John Ray Tucker was found carefully wrapped in sheets and draperies, and stored inside a closet of a Don-Mar Motor Courts in Austin, Texas. When police arrived at the scene, they determined that John had died of multiple skull fractures. But who did it? It was a matter of tracing the steps of the killer. At least a couple of witnesses pointed out that they had seen "Tom" carrying some draperies to the room where the body was found. At the time "Tom" was working as a maintenance man at the Con-Mar Motor Court. But cops soon learned that "Tom" was in reality Matthew Eugene Scott, who also went by Thomas Eugene Payne.

Following The Trail Of A Suspect
Cops now had the hard mission of locating Matthew Scott. On May 21, 1991 a warrant was issued for Scott. They were told that the suspect had fled Austin in his victim's 1971 Ford Motor Home. But a couple of months later investigators found the motor home in New Mexico. It was being driven by five people that worked for a traveling carnival. They claimed that Scott had traded the motor home for a 1981 black Chevy Camaro. At the time, Scott said he was trying to go to Los Angeles and was traveling with a German Shepard dog. In August that same year, the Camaro was found in El Paso, Texas. A woman had the car at the time, and said that Scott had traded it for a Pontiac Grand Prix. Scott also mentioned that he was going to Arizona or California. And that was the last time investigators knew about Scott's whereabouts. Scott hasn't contacted relatives since 1897 and now they are hoping that AMW.com will bring new attention to the case and bring this alleged killer to justice.
