  Case Story
  Missing Mom Is A Mystery
Four children lying dead in their beds ... a husband found hanging from the banister ... and a missing woman who's vanished without a trace. No one is sure what happened, and now police in Frederick, Md. are hoping Deysi M. Benitez, 25, the family's wife and mother, can provide some answers. Deysi is considered a missing person, and police say she could have left the country or could also be dead herself. Investigators say they urgently need to find her. Police say Pedro Rodriguez, 28, and his wife Deysi married in 2002 and bought a townhouse in Frederick, Md. They were both from El Salvador and trying to live the American Dream. Friends and family say the couple worked hard to support their children and give them a good life. Family members say it was difficult for the pair to raise four children and the couple worked menial jobs to pay the mortgage. Deysi was employed at a local restaurant and Pedro was on the payroll at Masonite International Corporation in Frederick, though he was going to be losing his job. Recently, police say trouble seemed to be brewing at the Rodriguez-Benitez home.  Officers were called to the townhouse eight times within the last year, responding to a variety of complaints, from parking issues and noise to verbal disputes and disorderly conduct.

  A Chilling Discovery
On March 26, 2007, investigators say a Hillcrest Elementary School liaison worker went out to the townhouse because she was worried that the family's two oldest girls hadn't shown up for classes the previous week. Police say the liaison worker knocked and when no one came to the door, she called investigators. The responding officer entered the residence through and unlocked window and encountered a smell he says he'll never forget. Investigators say it was the odor of bodies decomposing, and the officer soon found the source of the smell. Police say Pedro was found hanging by a nylon rope from the second-floor banister. The children--Elsa, 9, Vanessa, 4, Angel, 3, and Carena, 1--were all found dead in their beds with blankets pulled over their heads. Autopsies revealed that the girls were suffocated and 3-year-old Angel, the family's only son, had suffered blunt force trauma to the head.

  Where Is Deysi Now?
The children's mother, Deysi, has not been since March 18, 2007. Investigators know she has a Maryland driver's license and they also learned that she's been using several aliases around town. She is known to work in restaurants and could be traveling with someone she knows.
