Fugitive Caught By K-9 Dog |

Shreveport Police say that a man wanted for allegedly kidnapping a woman at an ATM machine and rapping her was taken into custody on Friday, March 16, 2007 at 3:00 a.m.
The suspect was identified as 39 year old Anthony Ashley of Shreveport. The Shreveport Tactical Robbery and Sex Crimes Units' hard work paid off when they recieved a tip that Ashley had been spotted at a Vet half way house. But when police arrived he was gone. "We missed him by 30 minutes" says PIO Randy Patrick with the Shreveport Police Department. "He saw his face on tv, gave his dinner to another person and left to get cigarettes."
Police say eight hours later K-9 officer, Cpl. Daniel Sawyer spotted Ashley on the Portland Street Bridge. Police say when Ashley spotted police he decided to make a run for it, but he was out run by the officer's K-9 dog Renzo. Police say Ashely was taken to LSU Hospital ad treated for dog bites.
He was later booked into the Shreveport City Jail. His bond was set for just over 1 million dallars.
Shreveport Police say on Monday, March 12, 2007, around 9:30 p.m. a woman was kidnapped at an ATM machine located on Greenwood Road,. The woman told police that a man approuched her on foot and forced her into her vehicle.
The woman told police the man sexually assualted her and then drove her to another ATM machine where he made her withdraw money.
What the woman did next may have saved her life. Police say as the suspect approuched a red light at the intersection of Caddo and Common, the woman opened the door and jumped out of the car. She told police that she saw two police officers near by. Police say after jumping from the vehicle, the woman ran over to the two officers.
Police say the suspect fled in the woman's car while police chased him. The suspect's luck ran out or should we say his ride ran out, when the car hit a light pole at the intersection of Pete Harris and Logan Street. Police chased the suspect, but he managed to escape. |
