Donations Collected For Over A Month To Assist Guglielmo Family |

Infant, Giovanni Guglielmo suffers from a severe immune deficiency disease. The child's parents had just received good news that an umbilical-cord donor was identified and a transplant could soon be performed, prolonging the infant's life. Salem High School students tried to raise money to assist with the child's medical expenses by placing donation buckets in Rockingham Park Mall. Donations had been collected for nearly a month when the robber stole one of the buckets from a Sunglass Hut kiosk in the mall. |

Police Have Few Clues To Help Them Identify The Robber |

"The gentleman came up, said he was part the Giovanni fund, and he said he was here to pick up the donations," a mall employee said. "The kid that had the donations at Salem High was the only one that was supposed to be picking up the money. No one else was supposed to be touching the money."
Giovanni's father, Michael Guglielmo, said he is shocked and disappointed this incident happened. "For somebody to steal from a child, it's no better than a child molester," Guglielmo said. Salem police are looking for the suspect, but have few clues since the mall's surveillance cameras were not operating. In the meantime, baby Giovanni will be receiving chemotherapy for the next week. |
