Case Story |
|
| |
Night Begins Peacefully |
|
| |
When Eric Murrow went to a party store on East Warren Street in Detroit with two of his friends, he had no idea it would be one of the last things he ever did. On that evening, November 9, 2006, Eric and his two friends were inside the party store when they were confronted by two other young men. According to police, there was a verbal altercation inside the store but it seemed to end quickly and all five people involved soon left the scene.
Unfortunately, the events of that night had not yet come to an end. As Eric and his friends, Roy and Irvin, were walking down the street, Nathan Jacobs pulled up alongside him in a blue van, along with the other two men from the party store. Jacobs insisted that he needed to talk to Irvin, and everyone present agreed to meet at Eric's house, just down the street.

Once everyone arrived at Eric's house, another verbal argument broke out that then turned physical. Cops say it still is not apparent what the argument was about but it was important enough to enrage Jacobs.
In the midst of the fight, Jacobs ran back to the van he had been driving and turned around holding an AK-47. According to police, he began firing the gun, aiming at Eric and Roy, who tried to take refuge inside Eric's house. As the two men were retreating, Eric was struck by three bullets, causing fatal injuries. |

A Quick Getaway |

The cops were alerted to the crime when a friend of Eric's found him dead inside his house. Once the police arrived, they did not have too much trouble piecing together the events of that evening.
Even though they discovered very quickly that Nathan Jacobs allegedly was to blame for the murder of Eric, they could not track him down. By the time they started looking for him, he had already disappeared. |
