Robbing Banks For A Living |
|
| |
The Fort Smith, Ark. Police Department has taken a different approach in trying to identify a white male who has successfully robbed four Arkansas banks in less than two months. They have created a MySpace page for the robber, 'bankrobber2007'. The title on the page: "I rob banks for a living."
Police say this guy just very well may rob banks for a living. He has gotten away with four so far and his pattern suggests that his crime spree will continue. |

Law Enforcement Goes Viral |

Sgt. Jarrad Copeland of the Fort Smith Police department created the page because the bank surveillance pictures and video were so clear. Police say this guy is different from a typical robber because he doesn't try to hide his identity. The bank surveillance cameras have picked up some pretty clear pictures of this guy. That's why Sgt. Copeland feels so strongly that the bank surveillance pictures are enough for someone to identify this guy.
Police say this robber has been described as calm, cool and relaxed when he robbed these banks. Police say on January 8, 2007, he walked into the U.S. Bank in North Little Rock, produced a gun, took the money from the teller and walked out. Then on January 24, 2007, the suspect hit more than one teller at the First National Bank in Fort Smith. Police say he calmly walked into the bank, approached a teller, took her money and then moved on to the teller next to her.
Police say he's holding true to the moniker because on February 12, 2007 he robbed the Bank of Ozarks in Van Buren and then on February 22, 2007 he robbed the US Bank in Alma.
Police say no one has been harmed in any of the robberies, but the suspect did point a gun at a customer in the US Bank in Alma and asked him to move over so that he could rob the teller at the window. |

Who Was That Unmasked Man? |
|
| |
So who is this cocky man? Police describe him as a white male in his 50's or 60's. They believe he could be staying in local motels and paying cash for a good night's sleep. In the first three robberies he wore a blue jacket with a green hood that had a yellow stripe around the collar. Police say the suspect changed his outfit for the Alma robbery. He walked into the bank wearing -- of all things -- a blue FBI jacket and a blue baseball cap.
Fort Smith police believe someone should be able to recognize this guy from the photographs. Sgt. Copeland says the MySpace page has gotten many hits, but there hasn't been a tip that identifies this guy. Sgt. Copeland says he is excited that America's Most Wanted is profiling the suspect. He is confident that someone out there will provide him with the tip he is looking for. |
