Florida Teen Snatched From School Bus Stop |
|
| |
Police say that a little before 9 a.m., on Friday, February 23rd, 2007, 13-year-old Clay Moore was kidnapped at gunpoint from his school bus stop.
Witnesses at the scene said that the kidnapper was a Hispanic male, about 5'6" tall, with short dark hair and a dark mustache. He was wearing dark sunglasses, and was driving an older model red or maroon extended-cab truck.
According to authorities, Clay is a white male, 5'0", 100 lbs., with wavy brown-blond hair down to his shoulders. He was last seen wearing khakis and a black jacket with MSA written on it, which stands for Manatee School of the Arts. He also had a red backpack. |

A Daring Escape |
|
| |
Cops say that after Clay was forced to get into a red Ford Ranger, he was tied up and transported to a rural area about 20 miles away from the bus stop, at a farm where Vicente Ignacio Beltran-Moreno reportedly worked three years earlier. Clay told police the kidnapper then left him alone, and the young boy was able to free himself using a safety pin to cut through the duct tape he was bound with. He then walked until he found help. Officials in Manatee County applaud Clay's bravery, and credit his alertness while being held hostage with opening the case up.
Police are now searching for Beltran-Moreno, who they believe may have fled the state and could be trying to make his way to the border. |
