Da Vinci Painting Disappears From Scotland Castle |
|
| |
While leading a group of tourists through the Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfries, Scotland, a young tour guide was attacked by two men posing as tourists. The two men overpowered the guide and managed to steal DaVinci's $65 million painting, Madonna of the Yarnwinder. The thieves dismounted the painting from the castle's walls and escaped in a white Volkswagen Golf with two other unidentified men. Police found the abandoned vehicle a few miles down the road but were unable to track the criminals. Investigators believe that the painting is being used as collateral for criminals and think that, if it does reappear, it won't be for at least another five years. |
