A Lifetime Of Abuse Begins |

When Timmy Shaw married a widowed woman, his true intentions were not immediately obvious. But shortly after the wedding, he made his real desires known to one young girl.
According to cops, Timmy Shaw began forcing himself sexually on his 15-year-old stepdaughter in August 1998. He began a pattern of abuse by promising the young, naive girl that he would buy her presents in exchange for sexual favors. It started out with Shaw buying the girl cigarettes in exchange for letting him fondle her. Over the next several years, the abuse increased.
By the time Melissa Neal was 18 years old, she says she was being forced to have sex with Shaw almost every other day. In exchange for these sexual acts, and for her continued silence, Shaw had bought her countless packs of cigarettes, clothes, shoes, and even a Honda CRX. |

The Stakes Are Raised |

Whenever Melissa tried to end the relationship, her stepfather would threaten to take away the one thing she needed the most: love and approval. Melissa was also afraid that if her mother found out about the sexual relationship, she would become angry at her daughter and kick her out of the house.
Melissa was so scared of being rejected by her family that she remained silent and continued to endure the abuse of her stepfather until she was 20-years-old. Melissa had reached her breaking point. Shaw wouldn't allow her to maintain any friends, much less have a boyfriend.
Worse still, police say Melissa had heard that Shaw was living in a different household with two young children. She later told cops that she was afraid that Shaw would do the same things to those children that he had done to her.
Melissa finally told her mother everything. Shaw was immediately kicked out of the house, and Melissa's mother filed a restraining order. But at this point, Melissa was still too scared to go to the police with her story. |

Shaw Takes Off |

In February 2005, Timmy Shaw was finally taken to trial, and found guilty of nine felonies, including sexual assault on a child, aggravated incest, and sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. Shaw was supposed to return to trial for his sentencing in April 2005, but he never showed up and has been on the run ever since.
Melissa Neal has gone through a lot in her life, and needs some closure in the case of Timmy Shaw before she can find peace and move on. Shaw is deeply immersed in the greyhound racing business, and police believe that he may still be involved in this aspect of his life. They believe it is possible that he could still be active at greyhound racing tracks in Kansas and Arkansas. |
