Birth Mother May Have Taken Twins |
|
| |
The search is on for 17-month twins who have been missing since Christmas Eve, when their Durham birth mother was scheduled to return the children to their adoptive parents in Apex, North Carolina.
Investigators say the children, Tyler Lee and Holly Ann Needham, went with their birth mother, Allison Lee Quets, 49, of Durham, on Friday for a visit over the holiday weekend and should have been returned to their adoptive parents, Denise and Kevin Needham, on Sunday.
Both of the twins have blonde hair and blue eyes, and may be riding in a white Plymouth van with N.C. license plate LRJ-6644 or Florida plates E377HZ. Police think Quets may have taken the twins to Florida or Kentucky, where her ailing mother is. |

Complicated History To Abduction Case |
|
| |
Cops say Quets has visitation rights but she may have taken the twins out of state in what was initially described to Durham police as "a child-custody dispute." Quets moved to Durham from Florida so that she can spend time during scheduled visits with the children.
Quets' family says she gave the twins up for adoption when she was extremely stressed and weak. They say she has been fighting to regain custody since shortly after signing the twins over in adoption paperwork. |
