Family Of Four Considered Missing |
|
| |
Friends and family say that the Kims were looking forward to their Thanksgiving family road trip to the Pacific Northwest. James Kim, 35, a senior editor at the tech-news site CNET, his wife, Kati, 30, and their two daughters, Penelope, 4, and Sabine, 7 months, left their Noe Valley home on November 18, 2006 and spent Thanksgiving with an uncle in Seattle. The family was expected to return to San Francisco on November 27, 2006. When both James and Kati Kim didn't show up for appointments on November 28, co-workers began to get concerned for the family's safety. Police say that the couple was always known to keep in touch with friends and colleagues by cell phone or email. The family's last known whereabouts at a Denny's restaurant in Roseburg, Oregon on November 25 where they were eating dinner. Police say they were en route to a hotel in Gold Beach, Oregon, only they never arrived.
Beginning on December 1, 2006, aerial searches began and searchers are focusing on two areas -- Gold Beach and Bear Camp, both in Douglas County, Oregon. Authorities also say that a command center has been established in Salem, Oregon to coordinate the multi-agency search effort.
Cops say that the Kim's were driving a 2005 silver Saab station wagon with personalized California plates 'DOE SF'. |
