Pants Could Lead To Missing Dad |
|
| |
On December 4, 2006, after being stranded in the snow for nine days, Kati Kim and her two children were rescued by a search party and airlifted to safety. However, the search still continues for James Kim, the father who set out on Saturday, December 2, 2006, to try to find help for his family.
Authorities say that a search team found a pair of gray pants on Tuesday that match the description of a pair of pants that James took with him when he went for help. The pants were found about a mile down a drainage area from the place where footsteps indicated that James had left the road.
Searchers are not sure why James left the road, but are operating under the idea that he is still alive, and are hopeful that more searches on Wednesday morning will be successful. According to the family, James has some outdoor experience, and took two lighters with him, so he should be able to start a fire for warmth. |

Family Of Four Considered Missing |
|
| |
Friends and family say that the Kims were looking forward to their Thanksgiving family road trip to the Pacific Northwest. James Kim, 35, a senior editor at the tech-news site CNET, his wife, Kati, 30, and their two daughters, Penelope, 4, and Sabine, 7 months, left their Noe Valley home on November 18, 2006 and spent Thanksgiving with an uncle in Seattle. The family was expected to return to San Francisco on November 27, 2006. When both James and Kati Kim didn't show up for appointments on November 28, co-workers began to get concerned for the family's safety. Police say that the couple was always known to keep in touch with friends and colleagues by cell phone or email. The family's last known whereabouts was Portland, Oregon on November 25 when they met a friend for breakfast.
Beginning on December 1, 2006, aerial searches began and searchers are focusing on two areas -- Gold Beach and Bear Camp, both in Douglas County, Oregon. Authorities also say that a command center has been established in Salem, Oregon to coordinate the multi-agency search effort.
Cops say that the Kim's were driving a 2005 silver Saab station wagon with personalized California plates 'DOE SF'. |
