Louise Herman, an 82-year-old grandmother, talked to her sister on the phone every day, multiple times. The pair lived near each other in Rome, NY. Then, on November 16, 2006, Louise suddenly didn't answer the phone.
Concerned, Louise's sister drove to her house to check things out. At first, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Louise's car was in the garage and all of the doors and windows were locked. But Louise's sister was convinced that something was terribly wrong, and decided to call police to investigate. |

Grandmother's Body Found |

When New York State Troopers arrived on scene, they too saw nothing out of the ordinary. But when police checked the basement of Louise's home, they made a gruesome discovery -- Louise's body was lying at the bottom of the stairs. Cops say Louise died of blunt force trauma to her head. She was beaten to death.
At the time of Louise's murder, her 34-year-old grandson, Scott Herman was also living in the same home. Officials say Scott Herman had been living with his grandmother for at least the past six years, but he hasn't been seen since her body was found.
Police say they want to bring Scott Herman back for questioning, but for now, they don't know where to find him. |
