  Case Story
Accused Bank Scammer Makes Off With Thousands
Cray Allen may be an old man, but cops in Baltimore County, Md. say it doesn't look like he'll be retiring anytime soon from his alleged career as a professional criminal. Seventy-four-year-old Allen is wanted all over Maryland, accused of scamming banks out of at least $220,000 since 2004. Cops say Allen illegally obtains bank account information and personal data from his victims -- then writes a fraudulent check to that person. Police say Allen goes to the bank and deposits the check, then requests cash back or a split deposit. Cops say the bank doesn't realize the check is bad until after Allen is long gone with hundreds of dollars straight out of his victims' bank account.

  No End In Sight
At first, police say Allen didn't seem scared to show his face while he pulled off the scams. But eventually, cops say Allen began wearing an old derby-style hat with glasses to conceal his identity. Police say Allen may have suffered a stroke or other type of injury, because he has been known to use a cane from time to time. If he's not using a cane, cops say Allen probably walks with a limp. Cops are keeping their eyes out for two cars associated with Allen -- a late model white Cadillac or a Lincoln Towncar. Police say he could be driving either of those, but there's also a possibility he ditched those vehicles and got a new ride. According to police, Allen is extremely resourceful and has been scamming people for years. He's wanted for fraud, theft, and falsifying documents in several jurisdictions -- and police say he won't stop until he's captured once and for all.
