Case Story |

From One Crime To Another |
|
| |
In August, 2004, Luis E. Morquecho was charged with kidnapping for allegedly abducting a woman. Morquecho pled not guilty and was sent to a corrections facility in Grand Island, Neb. to wait for his trial date. But eight months later, cops say Morquecho interrupted the normal course of justice.
On April 15, 2005 -three days before his trial- police say Morquecho, with the help of another inmate, overpowered an officer, climbed to the jail's roof, jumped to the ground and fled.

Cops: Fugitive Has Military Background |
|
| |
Cops say Morquecho is an illegal immigrant from Ecuador. But not only that, they say he served in the Ecuadorian military and was even assigned to the military's special forces branch. Cops are asking people to be careful because they believe Morquecho is a violent person who may be familiar with different types of weapons.
Cops say Morquecho may still be in Nebraska. But they also say that Morquecho told an inmate that if he were to escape from jail, he would go to New York City where he would be able to blend in with people from Latin America or with Ecuadorians. |
