Relationship Unravels Into Murder |
|
| |
David Weir and Victoria Ramirez were in their early 20s when they lived and worked together in the San Fernando Valley suburbs of Los Angeles. They even shared the same birthday, September 2.
The pair first met on a family boat cruise in 1999, while they were still in high school. While the relationship didn't last through Victoria's graduation, David and Victoria remained friends. Years later, when David's younger brother committed suicide, it would be Victoria who consoled David and stood by him.
The couple soon reconciled and lived in a home owned by Weir's father, Lawrence. Victoria was attending a local college to become a surgical technician while she and David both worked as bartenders at Lucerna, a bar also owned by Lawrence Weir. But friends and family say that despite working and playing together, David and Victoria's relationship was falling apart.
Victoria had made it clear to those close to her that she intended to leave David due to his involvement with another woman and his burgeoning criminal record.
Police say that David was using and dealing drugs, and was even arrested on drug charges.
Patrons of the bar told police that the couple was known to argue and fight, sometimes even at Lucerna. On August 5, 2006, the pair arrived for work and alternated between socializing with the bar's patrons and bartending duties. However, it wouldn't be long before casual conversation gave way to another one of the couple's feuds.
Toward the end of the evening, David and Victoria left the bar and returned to their residence in Sherman Oaks. Taking separate cars, the couple arrived home at around two in the morning, according to cops.
Police believe that the argument from earlier in the evening was revisited. Victoria may have even tried to end the relationship when David did something totally unexpected. According to cops, David produced a handgun and shot Victoria once in the head, killing her almost instantly. |

Suspected Murderer Could Be Anywhere |
|

Police say that moments after David Weir shot his girlfriend, he sped off in his 2003 Ford Mustang and placed a call to his father, Lawrence. Cops say that David was crying as he told his father that he had shot Victoria, and he wasn't sure if she was dead or alive. Lawrence told police that he immediately called David's mother, Carmen, who lived at the home with David and Victoria.
When Lawrence couldn't reach Carmen, he left for the residence, where he discovered Victoria's body and called 9-1-1. Hours later, Lawrence would call longtime friend Gino Dubois to pick David up at a nearby Rite-Aid pharmacy. Gino told police that he was unaware of what had happened, but David immediately told him the whole story. David later told Gino that he had disposed of the murder weapon.
The two men then met up with Lawrence Weir's lawyer, Anthony Brooklier to discuss a possible surrender. When David learned he could get up to fifteen years in prison for murdering Victoria, he decided that surrender was not an option.
Ginto told police that after breakfast, he took David to the Town Center Theater in Encino, California before going on to meet with Lawrence Weir for guidance. Gino claims Lawrence asked him to go back to the theater to check on David's well-being.
After meeting briefly at the theater plaza, David and Gino went their separate ways. According to police, that was on August 6, 2006 and it was the last time anyone has reported seeing suspected murderer David Allen Weir.
LAPD is looking for the public's assistance in locating David Weir. He may be armed and is considered extremely dangerous. Police say Weir was last spotted in San Diego, but since he may have access to his family's fortune, he could be hiding anywhere. |
