Heiress To Los Angeles Landmark Killed |
|
| |
Jean-Clinton Roeschlaub was the Clifton's Cafeteria heiress. The 83-year-old helped to build a small restaurant chain that would become a landmark in Los Angeles dating back to before the Great Depression. Her parents, Clifford and Nelda Clinton began with $2,000 in capital and by World War 2, they had founded Meals for Millions, a non-profit organization that helped feed millions of starving and malnourished people around the world.
Given the family's track record of philanthropy, police are puzzled as to who would want to murder Roeschlaub. Cops say that her body was found on August 2, 2006 in the penthouse of her Glendale, California apartment. There were no signs of forced entry.
Glendale police are calling the death a homicide after the coroner released the autopsy. Those close to the investigation state that Roeschlaub was stabbed, however no formal cause of death has been released at this time.
Police say Roeschlaub's killing was not a random crime because the assailant couldn't have gotten into her condominium penthouse if she or building staff hadn't let them in. |
