Fisherman's Find Launches Murder Investigation |

On May 14, 2006, a witness walking in rural Lafayette County, Missouri found what appeared to be an empty shallow grave. A broken shovel lay beside it.
The next day, a fisherman walking in the same area found that hole. The shovel was gone but the hole was now filled with a body. The body was 41-year-old Marsha Spicer.
After identifying the victim, investigators spoke to Marsha's friends and family and from there, the investigation moved quickly. Soon, they had their suspects, Richard Davis and Dena Riley.
Acquaintances told them Davis was into rough and kinky sex and often spoke of having sex with two women. More disturbingly, they say he'd also fantasized about torturing and killing women. And Davis did more than just talk.
Just a year earlier, Davis had been released from prison, serving time for a brutal 1987 rape that took place eerily close to where Marsha's body was found. |

Cops Narrow In On Their Suspects |

On May 17, 2006, investigators questioned Davis and Riley. Both denied any involvement, but that visit was far from fruitless. Cops observed that Davis had a videocamera set up, pointed at his bed. Police say they also found a book, believed to belong to Davis, that made numerous references to "victims" and "choking" and "chasing." When police returned with a search warrant two days later, Davis and Riley were gone, but police say they discovered something they rarely find: actual video documentation of the crime in progress.
It was a scene cops describe as gruesome and the worst they've ever witnessed. Cops say the videotape shows Marsha Spicer, bound with duct tape, being brutally tortured, raped and sodomized by both Davis and Riley. That was all the evidence cops needed to file a litany of charges on the pair.
More Videotape Leads The Manhunt
Now, cops are in high gear trying to hunt down this pair with a penchant for violent sexual activities. The first tip they've received indicates the duo has headed east, as they were captured on a motel's surveillance camera in Columbia, Illinois -- a suburb of St. Louis. Cops know these two won't stop until they are arrested. In fact, police already fear the couple may have more victims. |

While conducting inside Riley and Davis' apartment, police say they found a photo of a woman who was reported missing on May 3, 2006. Cops say the woman's name is Michelle Ricci, but that she sometimes goes bythe name "Michelle Huff."
In early June, 2006 police said they found Michelle Ricci's dead body. Investigators found the body over Memorial Day weekend in Clay County but needed to confirm the body's identity. While Riley and Davis are only charged in Spicer's death, investigators now say more charges could be in the works.
