A Life Cut Short |

Friends of Robert Maisonet said that he was personable and nice guy. Cops say that the high school freshman and his 14-year-old sister were being raised by their aunt and uncle after the deaths of both parents.
Cops say Maisonet was waiting for the bus near the intersection of Franklin and Laguna boulevards in Elk Grove, California. For reasons unknown, police say he was attacked by three teenagers on the busy street just after 2 pm on January 7, 2006.
Maisonet was beaten to death by the three unknown suspects, all wearing blue and white, who then fled into a gray SUV driven by a fourth suspect.
Police say that initially they thought the killing may have been gang related since the attackers wore blue and white and Maisonet was dressed in a red shirt and red backpack. However, cops currently believe that while Maisonet was not in a gang, his killers certainly might have been.
Cops say the investigation is still open, but without more witnesses and information, it is unknown when an arrest will be made.
A $5,000 reward is being offered by the Sund/Carrington Memorial Reward Foundation for information leading to the killers' arrests.
