  Case Story
Charity Bingo Owner Was Not That Generous
Kenneth E. Graham was a well-known and succesful businessman in the Richmond, Va. area in the early 80's. Apparently, he wanted to use those same entrepeneurial skills that helped him make it to the top to help others by opening Bingo games for charities. However, the "noble laborer" showed his real side in November, 1995 when police found out that he had been stealing $690,000 from the local charities that sponsored his bingo operations. The incident became a big-money scandal and he was found guilty on six counts of grand larceny and one count of conspiracy to commit grand larceny. Graham was given a 17 year prison sentence. He was also asked to repay the $690,000 that he skimmed from the charities. In 1998, after four years of being in prison, he was released under the condition that he would let the Virginia Parole Board know about his whereabouts and that he would continue to pay the restitution.

  No Person, No Money
Police say that In February 2003, Kenneth Graham met with his Parole Officer and told him that he didn't think it was fair for him to repay the almost $700,000 that he stole from the local charities. The discussion ended when he told the officer that he was just not going to pay the money back . According to police, on March 4, 2003, Graham told his family that he was going to run some errands, but Graham didn't return home. His family filed a missing persons report in The Hanover County Virginia Sheriff's Department but the Virginia Deprtment of Corrections treated Graham's case as a fugitive investigation. Graham hasn't been seen since, but police say that he may have been spotted in August 2004, in Kona, Hawaii by a Hanover County, Va. couple who was having lunch at a restaurant. Police also say that Kenneth Graham has to take more than 10 different medicines and that he likes warm weather.
