  Case Story
  Soccer Fan's Alleged Deadly Drive
Watching a favorite sports team in action often stirs the emotions. Winning moves can inspire the audience, but the sting of defeat can bring out the worst in those who don't like the results of the game. On the night of October 8, 2005, an intense soccer game between Guatemala and Mexico brought the two teams head to head. A group of friends also felt the heat as they watched the game on satellite TV at an apartment in Cincinnati, Ohio. The passion on the field matched the heavy emotions in the living room and cops say one man's anger began to get the better of him.

  Road Rage
Rey Serrano, also known as Hilario Vasquez Velaquez, among other aliases, was distraught over his beloved team from Guatemala losing the match. According to officials, Serrano was an illegal alien from Chiapas, Mexico, but was of Guatemalan descent. Authorities say a brief fight broke out between the group of men, many of whom were devout Mexico fans. But cops say Serrano hadn't gotten it out of his system yet. The soccer fans left the apartment at about 1:20 a.m. and were walking on sidewalk. It was at this time that Elmwood cops say that Serrano steered his car in to the crowd. Five people were injured and one man, Frederico Morales Perez, was killed almost instantly. One of the men who survived was Vasquez's own brother. About 100 feet down the street from where authorities say he struck the men, he crashed his car, a white, 1993 Lincoln Towne Car, into a utility pole. Cops say that the drunk Serrano fled the scene on foot.

  Still Running
Cops say Serrano was seen shortly after the accident. He was returning to his apartment in Elmwood with blood on his shirt. Since he left the apartment, he has not been seen.  Now charged with murder, aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault, Serrano is on the run. Police say Serrano is about 5'0'' and 150 lbs. He is trained as a ceramic tile installer and might be looking for work laying tile in the greater Cincinnati area.
