Case Story |
|
| |
Brazen Holiday Escape |
|
| |
Warren, Arkansas cops are on the hunt for a bold Christmas Eve escapee.
They say Jesus Pablo Morales and an accomplice overpowered staff members at the Warren jail -- including a police officer -- around 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2005. The two then fled on foot. The Warren Police sergeant suffered a concussion, but bravely resisted the escapees' attempts to take his gun.
Shortly after the escape, authorities nabbed Morales' accomplice, but Morales has not been found.
Morales was recently returned to the Warren Jail, where he was facing capital murder and attempted murder charges for a homicide in Bradley County. Police say Morales shot an associate to death and nearly murdered another in the April 2002 incident. Bradley County and Warren officials filed charges on Morales in 2002, but he went on the run and remained a fugitive for three years. His run ended in April, 2005, when cops in Houston arrested Morales on a domestic disturbance charge.
Because Morales is facing capital charges, he will face a possible death sentence once he returns to custody. |
