Family members plan to gather at Owen Chapel United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 24, 2007, to walk to the cemetary and release balloons marking the third year since the girls were discovered missing.
Police say that the day before Jennifer Wix and her daughter vanished, Jennifer had gotten into a heated argument with her boyfriend, Joey Benton. Prior to her disappearance, Jennifer called and talked to her mother, Kathy Holloway, for nearly an hour concerning her situation with Joey. Jennifer and her 2-year old daughter, Adrianna had been living with the Benton family for approximately 3 months. Police say Jennifer is very close to her family and always stayed in touch with them during the week. |

Immediately, deputies with the Robertson County Sheriff's Department questioned Jennifer's boyfriend, Joey Benton, about her disappearance. At first, Benton told authorities he last saw Adrianna and Jennifer on March 25 when the two left with an unknown individual. But then, cops say Benton changed his story. He told officials he dropped Jennifer and Adrianna off at an Exxon gas station on the March 25 around 9:30 p.m. Jennifer's mother says that records do not show Jennifer calling and making arrangements with anyone to meet her that night.
Authorities have followed up on numerous leads, but so far, nothing has led to the recovery of Adrianna or Jennifer. Holloway says that only a partial area of the Benton property was searched. She says that most of Jennifer and Adrianna's belongings were returned back to her. "The most telling thing missing in her belongings were any sort of writings. Jennifer loved to write. She would write letters that she would never send, her thoughts and poetry. She always had a pen and paper. But when I asked about this, I was told by the Benton's that there were none," says Jennifer's mother.
No one has yet to be charged in the disappearance of the 2-year-old or her mother. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has released an age-progression photograph of what Adrianna would look like today. |
