A Man With No Respect For The Law |
|
| |
To most, police officers represent the law -- a force to be respected. But to fugitives like Darren Williams, law enforcement represents a direct threat to their liberty, and they therefore have zero respect for police. According to cops, Williams is the type of fugitive who's willing to do anything to avoid losing his freedom, including battering the officers who try to take it from him.
Police say Williams' distain for the law started in December 1988, when he shot a man at point blank range. He spent some time behind bars for that crime -- and doesn't want to go back. But cops say for someone so intent on avoiding jail, he hasn't done much to change his violent lifestyle. |

Williams Gives False Name, Flees |
|
| |
Police say Williams physically fought numerous officers in their attempts to arrest him on various charges. In 1997, while he was on probation, police finally managed to arrest Williams on drug charges. But instead of facing more time in jail, cops say Williams went on the run.
Six years past before Williams popped up again, this time in Polk County, Fla. There, in 2003, cops say Williams was caught soliciting an undercover officer for prostitution. But again, Williams was prepared to avoid prison. He gave police the false name "Richard D. Berry," and before cops realized who he really was, Williams had posted bond and fled again. |

Cops: He'll Do Anything To Stay Out Of Jail |
|
| |
Police say Williams has a slew of aliases, and has likely taken on an entirely new identity for his life on the run. They say Williams is a dangerous man with a violent past -- and that he has no problem fighting the police or anyone else who tries to bring him down.
