Your program and your host, Mr. John Walsh, is one that I trust, respect and admire very much because you stand for what I believe in. Truth, fairness, and above all, justice for the victims and the victim's family. I have been a fan of America's Most Wanted and Mr. Walsh from the beginning, and I never thought that someday I would be writing to you. Now, I desperately need your help into the murder investigation of my nephew.
His family says that Roosevelt "Squirt" Pernell, III, had turned his life around after briefly serving time on drug charges when he was younger. He worked hard to begin a new life with his wife and daughter. He'd recently started working at a grocery store to support his young family and even became an active member at his church. But even though Roosevelt was no longer running with the wrong crowd, it seems that they were still looking for him.
On Dec. 4, 2003, Roosevelt and his younger brother, Cedric, left their mother's house in West Point, Miss. and headed for a convenience store. But they never made it to their destination. |

A Planned Attack? |

As they drove down the street, three gun shots were fired. And both young men were hit. According to police, Roosevelt and Cedric ran from their car to the driveway of a nearby house to get help.
Cedric had been shot in the hand, but Roosevelt lay on the driveway bleeding -- shot twice in the back. Although he was rushed to the hospital, he died later that night.
He was a good-hearted, kind, generous and fun-loving young man who I loved very much and didn't deserve such a tragic end.
Officials say that the shots came from someone waiting with a high-powered rifle, in the underbrush near the train tracks parallel to the road, but beyond that, they don't have many leads. |

Hoping Someone Comes Forth |

I am fighting very hard to get justice for my nephew and a sense of relief that the guilty will be punished. This is why I pray that AMW can help me on my quest for justice by airing my nephew's case, because maybe this will impress upon the seriousness of a person losing their life for nothing and get someone with a conscious to come forth with pertinent information that will solve this murder. At this point, everyone in that small town seems afraid to talk. |
