  Case Story
Boy Meets Girl, And So On...
Chicago authorities are trying to track down alleged killer Sherry Halligan, who they say confessed to the murder of Dennis Campbell. But she bolted before justice could be served and now police in LaGrange, Ill. and the Chicago FBI are on the hunt. According to officials, Halligan and Dennis Campbell dated in 2000 when they lived near each other in the Chicago suburbs. For about a year, cops say they were hot and heavy. But, things tapered off when Dennis moved to Florida, where he eventually fell in love and got engaged to another woman. In January 2003, Dennis Campbell came back to the Windy City for a corporate training session and police say Halligan met him at his hotel and went out to dinner with one of Dennis' colleagues. Afterwards, Dennis and Halligan went back to her home for a private conversation. Cops say Dennis planned to break things off for good with Halligan and focus on his new life and new love in Florida. But when Dennis tried to end their relationship and cut Halligan off financially, police say the conversation got heated.

  Argument Turns Deadly
According to police, the argument turned ugly when Halligan grabbed a gun--and shot Dennis five times. Police say he probably would have lived if he had received medical attention immediately, but Halligan left Dennis lying on the floor, jumped in her car and sped off. Police say that Halligan drove around all night as he slowly bled to death in her home. The next day, LaGrange Police say Halligan came into their station and made a chilling confession. According to cops, Halligan said she shot Dennis the night before. Then, she told them, she drove along Highway 55 and threw the gun and her bloody clothes out the window. Halligan was arrested and charged with murder. Halligan was released on bond and attended some of her initial hearings. But, agents say she eventually just stopped showing up for court. Several months later, cops found Halligan's car at Midway Airport in Chicago, and now federal officials are involved in the hunt for Halligan.
