  Case Story
  Something He Cannot Forget
For John Norman, caring about something never has a statute of limitations. Twenty-four years ago, John's 23-year-old neighbor, Gretchen White, was found brutally murdered at Arizona State University. The fresh-faced co-ed's death came as an utter shock to the man who lived on the same street as she and her family for years.   She was a very beautiful girl who was also a straight "A" student in high school. She and her family had high moral standards and attended church regularly...At Arizona State, she was preparing to be an architect. Many years have now passed, and John Norman has long since moved away from the Michigan neighborhood where he knew Gretchen and her family, but the case is still something he can't forget. "Gretchen's parents were devastated by the fact that her murderer was not caught and brought to justice," Norman told AMW. "They suffered for the rest of their lives."

Mysterious Voice -- Link To Murder?
On March 20, 1981, around 2:30 a.m., neighbors at Gretchen's apartment in Tempe, Ariz. called the manager, saying they heard a man yelling outside her door. When police arrived just ten minutes later, they found Gretchen's apartment empty and no sign of a struggle. Neighbors told police they had heard the same male voice yelling, "Gretchen, let me in!" outside the young woman's apartment just a week before. Four hours later, two groundskeepers found Gretchen White's body clad only in a bathrobe. She was found in the parking lot of a neighboring high school, Corona del Sol at 1001 E. Knox Road. After the discovery of the body, police found her car in a different part of the complex than where she usually parked. Further investigation revealed more ghastly details -- detectives determined that Gretchen had been strangled and then run over by her own car. Police interviewed the man she had been dating on and off and about 100 other people, but were still unable to gather any solid leads.

  Hoping For Justice
John Norman, who still remembers and cares about the young girl who was killed so long ago, is hoping that there is somebody else out there who also remembers and has information. Whoever killed Gretchen must have known her since he called her by name. If it was a college student, you would think by now he would have told somebody. Justice needs to be served in this case -- please help us find this killer.
