Bay Area Doctor Disappears |

Pediatric Dr. Zehra Attari was reported missing by her husband on Monday Nov. 7, 2005. According to cops, she was last seen leaving her clinic on the 2700 block of International Blvd. in Oakland, California. Oakland Police report that she never made it to a meeting she wanted to attend in Alameda, five miles away.
She was carrying about $700 in petty cash and it appears her cell phone has been turned off.
It was a dark and rainy evening and police say that she was unfamiliar with the route which would have taken her through some dangerous neighborhoods. According to family members, Zehra did not like driving to new locations alone.
Police have searched the planned route and launched an aerial search of the nearby Oakland estuary, all to no avail. |

Friends say that Dr. Attari is well liked in both San Jose, where she lives, and in Oakland, where she practices medicine. Cops say that there are no reports of domestic stress in her life and remain concerned about her disappearance.
Police note that she is dedicated to helping people of low income and understands the risk of working in risky neighborhoods.
Police say that there are currently no clues as to her disappearance. Cops are hoping AMW tipsters can assist in finding this beloved community member. |
