My Story -- By Janet Price |
|
| |
I watch your show and I know of your family's tragedy. I admire you and my heart goes out to you and your family. You are receiving this letter with prayers and hope that you will be able to help my family.
Jane Kleese was the youngest in a large family that included four sisters and a brother in Niles, Ohio. The 35-year-old mother of two was a dedicated wife and mother and a beloved member of her family.
Our lives have been turned upside down and our hearts were ripped out of us. Our lives will never be the same. We could not fathom anyone hurting our Jane, much less killing her. She was the baby of our family. Jane was our shining star and she had an inner beauty glowing from her. Jane's name means "Gift from God." We always felt blessed to have her for a sister and daughter. |

Trying To Piece A Death Together |
|
| |
Police in Niles, Ohio reported that Jane's body was discovered at the bottom of her basement stairs by her children on the afternoon of Jan. 23, 2002. Authorities say she was still dressed in her robe and had been carrying a basket of laundry. Several pieces of clothing were strewn around her body. Her 16-year-old son was the one who made the 911 call. It looked like an accident, and during their invesitgation into Jane's death, the Niles police were not able to find any signs of forced entry into the Kleese home, no sexual assault, no theft.
Her husband told the police and medical examiner he was very certain she had lost her balance when she tripped on a shoe carrying a laundry basket up the steps...Her death was ruled accidental. An autopsy was done and the very next day the coroner's office notified the Niles police that it was a homicide...The cause of death was asphyxia--strangulation by assault with other injuries.

Searching For Answers |

Now Jane's family is looking for answers and hoping that someone will come forward to help police solve a crime with few leads and even fewer witnesses.
No one deserves to have their life taken from them and certainly not this way. No mother should have to be told her child was murdered! Jane was tried, convicted and sentenced to death by a jury of ONE! All we ask for is justice, no more and no less. There is no one in this area who cares enough to help us...WILL YOU PLEASE HELP US? Jane's mother deserves justice for her and her child! Our family needs to find peace in our tears. Thank you!
Janet Price sent AMW a poem that she dedicated to her sister Jane Kleese. Here is an excerpt:
My Sister Jane -- By Janet Price
...My memory of you will always be clear, For I've memorized your face & the sound of your voice.Deep in the stillness I can hear you speak. You will always be an inspiration to me. Remembering back, Daddy called you butterfly,Sometimes I think of you as a beautiful & eloquent butterfly. I wish you could fly me up to where you are. My love for you dear Jane will live on & never die.I was truly blessed to have you for my sister, &I thank God for everyday I had with you... |
