Child Found Dead, Mother And Boyfriend On The Run |
|
| |
Police in Texas are trying to track down 22-year-old mother Amber McEntire and her 26-year-old boyfriend, Darrell Yates III, after finding the woman's child dead one hundred yards from the couple's home. It took trained search dogs only fifteen minutes to find the body. Though no murder charges have been filed yet, police suspect McEntire and Yates may be responsible for the child's death.
The badly decomposed body of 22-month-old Harold Cheyenne Harris, known as "Doc" to most, was found in a wooded area off Press Road in Nacogdoches. Authorities are awaiting results of an autopsy to find out exactly how the boy died. Authorities have not released specific details about the case, but say that the pair and the child were last seen alive on October 20th. According to officials, McEntire withdrew Harold from daycare, telling workers there that the child was going to stay with his biological father. Amber's friends decided to call the child's biological father, Kevin Harris, who told friends and officials that the boy was not with him and that he hadn't heard from the boy's mother in days. Word spread fast and soon Amber's friends became worried about her and the child's safety.
Harold's maternal grandparents also reported him missing when they found a suspicious note on the gate of Amber's home. The note said Amber, Darrell and Harold had left town to start a new life. Amber and her toddler had recently moved out of the grandparents home to live in a rental house with Yates.
Team Adam from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children assisted authorities in the search. On Saturday, November 5, authorities discovered the child's body, but by then, officials believe McEntire and Yates had fled to Mexico. |
